Are You Up To Date With Your Immunizations?

August is a hectic time for some, with parents trying to get their children back to school, college students getting back on campus and the health care industry preparing for flu season.  It is the absolute perfect opportunity to remind family, friends, co-workers and others around your community that it is National Immunization Awareness Month!

It is easy to get involved and raise awareness about vaccinations; just ask those around you “Are you up to date with your vaccinations?”  It will make them think and hopefully spark interest so they will find out if they are or not.

The Importance of Immunizations
Think about it, immunizations have helped fight many illnesses over the years, such as, small pox, measles, mumps, etc.  Despite all the good that vaccinations offer, tens of thousands of people in the United States still die every year due to these and other vaccine-preventable diseases (WAMU.org).

Vaccines are meant to offer safe and effective protection from infectious/deadly diseases.  By taking the responsibility of reminding family, friends and those around the community to get vaccinated, you are helping spread the word to keep America healthy!

Should I Be Immunized?
Getting immunized is a life-long commitment; it starts from birth and should continue throughout your life cycle.  There are different immunizations for every age cycle of life; infants, children, adolescents, adults of any age, and seniors.  Being immunized should be a community effort regardless of your age, sex, ethnicity, race or even what country you are from.
