Urgent Care vs. Emergency Room
“Urgent care” is a non-emergency medical service, made available when an individual perceives an immediate need for treatment. Urgent Care facilities are often more appropriate and less expensive than going to a hospital emergency department for non-emergency treatment for injury and illness.
Urgent Care Services:
Urgent care services include access to many services, including (but not limited to) laboratory testing, x-rays, sutures, foreign body removal.
- School and Sports physicals
- Flu shots
- TB skin test (QuantiFERON – TB Gold)
- Well child exams
- X-rays
- Minor illness and injury
- Sprains, strains, and bruises
- Laceration repair (Suture OR Dermabond Adhesive Repair)
- Minor burns
- Eye injury and screening
- I.V. therapy
- Pneumonia
- Hepatitis B
- Hearing tests
- Pap smears
